A New Way of Life

If you know me well, you know I DO NOT like fruits and vegetables!!  The only vegetables I will eat are potatoes, corn and peas!!  I have awful eating habits!

But I've started working out and I am using this work out program and part of it is eating clean.  So, that is what I am gradually starting to do!

My goal is to retrain my taste buds!

Today, I ate an apple slice......that made the hair on my arms stand up to gag that down!  In a little while, I am going to eat a carrot stick, yuk!
Everyday, I am going to try to eat some kind of vegetable or fruit that is not potatoes, corn or peas!

I plan on making everyone in the house try all these new foods!  I really want our whole family eating healthier!  I've already lost about 5-6 lbs in the last week and a half, just by cutting down what I eat and working out!  Imagine what I could lose if I was eating healthy food!!

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions on different fruits and vegetables I should try and how to cook them(cause obviously I don't know how), leave me a comment so I can put it on my list to try!

you should drink v-8 splash! It's a sweet drink that has fruits and vegetable mixed in, but doesn't really taste like it! also, manwich has a full serving of vegetables in it (:

At Walmart and our local grocery store, they sell sweet potato chips and mixed veggie chips. Those have spinach, zucchini, squash, beets, etc. in them. You could try those too! Of course, they aren't as healthy for you as the raw fresh veggies, but it's a great way to incorporate those veggies when you can. I do like the V8 juice too. They sell a "light" and that's what I get for myself... regular for sweet pea. Good luck ya'll!

Homecooked cinnamon apples: Slice and peel a 3-5 lb bag of apples. Jonathan, macintosh, or honey crisp work best. Use an apple slicer tool to make it faster!
Put all the pieces/slices into a pot and add red hot candies! You can add a lot or a few, depending on how "hot" you want the cinnamon. Just keep stirring to desired consistency.
Best eaten warm (leftovers can be microwaved). This is a great way to eat apples because all you taste is the spicy cinnamon! You can do it with peaches or pears too.

Randomly, I was just telling a coworker that they only potato salad in the world that I will eat is yours. :)

Also, our family loves glazed carrots. You can do fresh or frozen. I personally do fresh baby carrots or frozen crinkle-cut ones. Put in a pot of water on the stove and boil for about 10 minutes or until very soft. Drain the water off, then drizzle generously with honey (or brown sugar paste) and stir until well-coated. Yummy!

I am so proud of you! Luke still says when he won't eat veggies, "April fresh doesn't eat vegetables!" and I always says, "she does eat corn!"

Thanks for the ideas!! Patti, that is hilarious!!!
I did eat an apple slice yesterday, a bite of a carrot stick and a bite of asparagus! Today I have ate 2 bites of a banana!! This may not seem like a big deal to some people, but people who really know me, know that this is huge for me!! It's nice to be able to eat food that is healthy, so all the lifting weights and working out I'm doing is not for nothing!!
